My oral presentation

1. Music:

I begin with the music...the style of music in this country is not so different from our style. They hear hip-hop and rock. By the twenty-first century, reggae, dub and electronica were all popular with local artists.

Māori music is music composed or performed by Maori , the native people of New Zealand, and includes a wide variety of folk music styles, often integrated with poetry and dance, as well as modern rock and roll, soul, reggae and hip hop.


2. Traditions

Middle-winter swim: People swim in the middle of winter, often dressed in silly costumes.


3. Festivals

Auckland Festival: is a festival of theatre, dance, concerts, cabaret, exhibitions, family events and more, where the national and international artists and companies show their performances.


4. Food and drinks

Pavlova: It is a popular dessert in New Zealand. It consists of a sweet cake that is baked and topped with an assortment of fresh fruit and berries.

Kumara: Also known as sweet potatoes, kumaras may be boiled, roasted or fried. Inside the potatoes can be lamb or pork.


5. Geography

The geography of New Zealand involve two islands (the North and South Islands) and a number of smaller islands, located near the centre of the water hemisphere. New Zealand varies in climate, from cold and wet to dry and to subtropical in some areas. The dramatic and varied landscape of New Zealand has made it a popular location for the production of television programmes and films, including the Lord of the rings..

January and February are the warmest months, July the coldest. New Zealand does not have a large temperature range but the weather can change rapidly and unexpectedly.


11. Things to visit

North of the island


The Coromandel: the Coromandel is about 2 hours drive from Auckland and is a very popular holiday destination for Aucklanders.The peninsula has many beaches, picnic areas and camping places and gets very busy during the holiday season.


Piha Beach: Piha Beach is situated on the West Coast of the North Island, 28 kilometers west of Auckland. The beach is famous for great surfing and regularly holds national and international surfing championships.

The beach is a black volcanic sand beach. The visitors who travelled to New Zealand have to see this beach.


Wellington: It is the capital of New Zealand and it is very important to visit because there you can see a lot of beautiful things and it is a very nice city. It is situated in the south of the north island and there live aproximatley 400.000 people.
